The mission of this class is to prepare students for life work lessons – specifically, how to decode/decipher written words to determine the actual meaning of those written words. In addition, students will be able to read classic literature and be able to distinguish theme, symbolism, character analysis, and how the novel relates to society/current day life. Students will learn to vocally represent their thoughts in a clear, concise manner. Students will learn how to organize their thoughts and transpose those thoughts into crisp effective writing. Students will learn the benefits of working with others in a benevolent and respectful manner to enhance quality of living for each other as well as for society. Ultimately, the goal of this class is to realize the inherent values and joys of reading, writing, listening and speaking to be better communicators resulting in being better citizens.
