AP English Language & Composition

AP English Language & Composition

Title:  AP English Language and Composition                   Number of Credits:  10
Grades: 11 Grade
The course is organized according to the requirements and guidelines of the current AP English Course Description, and, therefore, students are expected to read critically, think analytically, and communicate clearly both in writing and speech.  The overarching objective of the course is for students to write effectively and with confidence in their high school and, subsequently, college courses across the curriculum and in their professional and personal lives. This course is designed to be the equivalent to the introductory year of college-level composition work.  The class is chronologically integrated with the AP United States History class to ensure an understanding of the historical perspective. This course is greatly driven by the College Board guidelines and expectations of an AP course, along with the National AP English Language and Composition exam in May.

The course is rigorous daily and weekly writing/reading required.  Please view the AP contract under the Program-AP website tab.
