In addition, primary language materials will be provided, when available, to facilitate the preview and review of essential content. The course varies in the pacing, instructional methodology, and supplemental materials used which are designed to provide depth vs. breadth of the content standards, more comprehensible input, primary language support, and literacy development through the content area.

This course allows students to explore who we are and how we become happy, considering the experience of many other humans by exploring modern world history.  In this two-semester course, we principally explore defining eras of the past four centuries of world history, including the present.  We give special attention to moral and ethical dilemmas.  Historical knowledge, along with our memory of a personal experience, allows us to make a vision of a world that makes sense to us, and how to create it with others.  In this way, our World History class offers tools for living well, while meeting California standards for tenth grade social studies.  Pajaro Valley High School requires passage of World Civilizations/Modern World History for graduation.  This course also satisfies one year of the University of California high school social studies requirement.
