Pajaro Valley High School

 

Art 1 is a foundation level course introducing students to the visual arts.  Students will engage in art-making activities, which will encourage their ability to “see” the world around them, build self-confidence improve problem-solving skills, and acquire technical expertise through the use of a variety of art media.  Emphasis is placed on the formal study of the elements and principles of art and composition.  Students will have hands-on experience with art materials in two-dimensional and three-dimensional areas including drawing, painting, graphic design, and sculpture.  In addition, to technical expertise, art historical references will be integrated into the curriculum throughout the course.
